Samples of ARRL Foundation Grant Awards

 

 The ARRL Foundation provides grants to organizations that promote Amateur Radio and its activities, especially to young poeple. SNEW_ARRL_Foundation_Logo_WEB.gifpwecial emphasis is placed on introducing young people to electronics and helping them earn and FCC-issued Amateur Radio license.

Grant awards generally range from $250 to $2500 and are  not renewable. The Foundation does not fund emergency communications equipment for state or local EOCs or for emergency vehicles to be used in partnership with state or local agencies. 

Funded Projects

  • NIXA (MO) Amateur Radio Club

     

    Date:     May 2009
    Award: $1,000

     

    Purpose: To purchase radios for the new NIXA High School ham radio club, located at the NIXA Fire Department. The club raised additional funds from the local Chamber of Commerce, and two local corporations and others.  In addition, the club set aside $1000 for the project.  The focus of the award is to participate in Straight Key Night and Winter Field Day 2010 with a goal of attracting young radio amateurs and serving as a site for license upgrade classes and other contest operations.

     

     

  • Starke County (IN) Amateur Radio Club

    Date:     January, 2009
    Award: $3,000  

    Purpose: To fund a VHF repeater to enhance emergency communications. The club operates in cooperation with local officials, ARES, RACES and Skywarn to provide vital communications capabilities in an area where economic factors present serious challenges to the county and its citizens.

     

  • Venture Crew 47, Yankee Clipper Council, BSA

     Date:     January, 2009

    Award: $1,600

      Purpose: To fund an Amateur Radio station with 2-meter and 70-centimeter capability for use during scouting events with ham radio demonstrations, scout recruiting efforts, Field Day, public service events and emergency activations in service to the community.
